In fact they make really poor band-aid fixes to Protector which at this point I can only assume is stubbornness in keeping the original vision of the trait alive.
It's insane that we have already seen this happen multiple times in every update and Crema is still not addressing the actual issue. This means that anytime ANY Tem has the potential to be overpowered with a few easy buffs (like Yowlar right now) Protector will be an issue. Which, for the record, the issue is that Protector is an extremely overloaded trait that affects a Tem outside of itself (Kinu). I don't think Crema understands the fundamental issue with Protector (not Kinu), and I don't know how many times Protector is going to cause a nerf before they get what the issue is.
Maybe they'll let Kinu be a decent tem on its own rather than being defensive buffs fodder if Protector gets a real nerf.Īs for Yowlar, Comebacker on top of great base stats can be fixed with a simple change to the trait: damage buff if the target of Yowlar's attack hit it first, damage penalty if the target of Yowlar's attack didn't hit it first. There's a bunch of traits with similar entry-activation effects that are similar to Protector but much less game changing that have this restriction. The idea is to be able to get the +1 DEF & SPDEF but not being able to stack it, requiring Kinu stay in play, and being locked into only one of Kinu's teammates being able to get the buffs for the whole battle.Īlternatively, make Protector only activate once per battle. If either one is no longer on the field, either by switching out or getting knocked out, the buffs are removed from the recipient. I believe I'm not the only one who feels the same.Ĭlick to expand.I remember reading, possibly from posting it myself or seeing someone else suggest it in the feedback & suggestions section, is for the buffs from Protector only being active while Kinu is on the field and the recipient of Protector when Kinu enters battle is also on the field. We need some changes and I'm hoping to see them in the next patch. There isn't even a move with 0 hold that increases DEF and SPDEF and you're making it a trait that activates instantly? This is insane. Just completely remove Protector instead of trying to find workarounds. The nerfs are doing nothing, people are just using Grease on Kinu and it's not a big issue. As for Kinu, Protector has been overpowered since the beginning. I'd suggest removing Show Off from Yowlar or lower his stats, both defenses and HP. Now let's get back to Kinu + Yowlar, which is the main problem. Crema really needs to buff Beta Burst, either give it like 115 damage, leave damage the same and make it high prio, give it a synergy or make the stamina lower. You get now how trash Beta Burst is? From all of this we can also deduce that Plague is very overpowered. Last one I'm listing is Water Cannon, 21 stamina, 100 damage, normal prio and synergy with toxic. I think Hypoxia needs stamina a bit lowered but otherwise is fine. Hypoxia next, 30 stamina, 120 damage and normal prio.
Next is Crystal Spikes, 29 stamina, 110 damage and high prio, still better than Beta Burst even though it got nerfed. Next one is Thunder Strike, 22 stamina, normal prio and 120damage, admittedly, you get the exhausted condition. Now let's look at Plague, same stamina, same damage, higher prio AND inflicts exhausted. It has 23 stamina cost, 100 damage and normal prio.
Let's just compare the main special moves of some other types with Mental's main attack, which is Beta Burst. They are weak to Electric, Digital and Crystal, which are extremely popular types right now.Īnother thing to note is that Mental has some of the weakest moves in the game. There's just no counter play because Yowlar is only weak to Mental and Mental tems are in a very bad spot right now. I believe Protector is the main issue here but there is no doubt that Yowlar is also overpowered. I thought Crema learned that making someone extremely tanky and giving him self buffs(Show Off, Heat Up in Gyalis' case) was a bad idea.
